Formation
BST Scientific was formed in 1998 with the intention of serving the then still nascent life science community in Singapore through distribution of research products that is relevant to the community
Expansion
When BST Scientific was first started, it had a team of two person and very few manufacturers under its representation. As the company grew, more and more established manufacturers joined our fold, and our headcount swelled.
In early 2000s, the life science and biomedical science community in Singapore started growing rapidly as the goverment indentified this sector as one of the important pillars of growth. With this new development, BST Scientific decided to expand more rapidly and moved towards the goal of manufacturing life science related products.
In 2002, 1st BASE Pte Ltd was born, with the intention on providing custom oligonucleotide synthesis service. It was soon spinned off into it's own independent entity with matching VC funding, with one of the BST co-founders, Mr Lee Kok Choy as the new CEO. Today, 1st BASE provides a wide variety of custom services, like DNA synthesis, DNA sequencing, protein sequencing, peptide synthesis and it's own line of ready-to-use buffers.
In 2006, after nearly 8 years of existence, BST Scientific again restructured itself. Another company was formed. vCell Science Pte Ltd was spinned off as a separate entity to focus on new, upcoming products to promote in Singapore and the surrounding region.
Present
Today, BST Scientific remains a leading distributor of life science/biomedical science products. Over the years it has gained expertise in many areas related to this industry, but it has deliberately kept it's main focus narrower than most other companies. This has enabled it to grow, yet at the same time, nurture other spin-offs and keep it's customer satisfied with it's own service.
