Mr Francis Yap currently serves as the Managing Director of BST Scientific Pte Ltd, a position which he has filled since its formation in 1998.
Born and raised in Malaysia, Mr Yap graduated with a B.Sc from The National University of Singapore in 1993, majoring in Cell & Molecular Biology. Upon graduation, Mr Yap started working in the life science product distribution business providing both sales and technical support for various major manufacturers of life science research products.
Prior to forming BST Scientific, he co-founded BioSynTech Sdn Bhd, a life science distribution company located in Malaysia.
On his return to Singapore, he established BST Scientific together with his associate, Mr Lee Kok Choy.
In 2002, Mr Yap co-founded 1st BASE Pte Ltd, which grew to become on of the leading manufacturer of custom oligonucleotides and provider of DNA sequencing services in the region.
Mr Yap's experience and wide contact with customers in the Asia Pacific region and manufacturers worldwide enabled him to set up and grow the BST Scientific and it's associated sister companies within a short period of time.
Mr Yap currently serves as a director of a few privately-held corporations, including 1st BASE Pte Ltd and vCell Science Pte Ltd, both of which he had co-founded.
